Explore Blount County, Alabama with us
The Blount County Memorial Museum, opened in 1971, is dedicated to preserving and teaching history, in addition to honoring our military veterans. The museum is sponsored by the Blount County Historical Society with significant assistance from the Blount County Commission.
On May 6, 2024, the museum opened in its new location, the historic federal building built in 1938 in downtown Oneonta. On permanent display is an example of FDR’s New Deal Arts Program. Come visit and ask us
about the mural.
Admission to the museum and tours are free!

Beautiful Palisades Park atop Ebell Mountain has two pioneer cabins circa 1817 & 1847.

The museum boasts an impressive library and a genealogist to assist in the research of family history!
